Congratulations to Brooklyn High School for being recognized as a nationally certified Project Lead The Way Pre-Engineering school.
A national certification visit from Project Lead The Way (PLTW) is required within three years of implementing the PLTW pre-engineering program.
National certification recognizes that a school meets or exceeds all program requirements. The Brooklyn program had a successful certification visit in April 2012.
Brooklyn was recognized at the Fall PLTW Ohio conference in Athens, Ohio in November along with other Ohio schools who were certified in the past year.
In partnership with Polaris Career Center, the pre-engineering program was started in the 2009-20010 school year with the first pre-engineering class taught by Dr. Hughes.
Brooklyn offers four pre-engineering classes: Introduction to Engineering Design, Principles of Engineering, Digital Electronics and Engineering Design and Development.
Brooklyn currently has 75 students enrolled in various stages of the pre-engineering program. The first students to complete all four years of the pre-engineering curriculum will graduate this year.
We are very proud of Dr. Hughes and the students who are enrolled in these classes for their accomplishment in achieving national certification.
